From Malga Civertaghe
Path 713
There are two ways of getting to the Malga Zivertàghe car park (1375 m). Either take the partially asphalted forest track which branches off the SS 50 road at the first hairpin bend above Valmesta (3 km), or from San Martino (1466 m) take the Camoi forest track (3.5 km). From the car park follow footpath 713 up Val de la Vecia. It’s about a 2 hours and a half walk to the refuge.
From San Martino di Castrozza
Paths 724 + 713
From San Martino (1466 m) take the Val di Roda footpath 724, which branches off the Caffè Col road. The last part of the walk, after Soraronz, where you’ll see the lift for carrying supplies up to the refuge, follows footpath 713. Around 3 hours of walk.
From San Martino di Castrozza
Path 721
From San Martino (1466 m) take the Val di Roda upper footpath 721. Most of the ascent is made through the pleasant cool of the woods, and affords glimpses of the Pala di San Martino, the Campanili di Val di Roda and, on the final stretch, the graceful lines of Cima Madonna. A route of around 3 hours.
From Val Canali
Paths 719 + 742
From the “Piereni” or “La Ritonda” forest tracks, reach the Fosna car park in Val Pradidali (1340m). Take the old military uphill road with the footpath 719, up to the “Portela” where you’ll find signs for the Sentiero attrezzato del Cacciatore path 742, which goes up to the wild Val dei Pissotti and crosses over Cima della Stanga (2537 m) and then drops down to the refuge. This 5-hours path is among the most suggestive and incredible routes of the Pale di San Martino, highly recommended only to experts.
From Val Canali
Path 734 or 747
There are two options for getting to the refuge from the car park in Fosna, both for experts: the “Camillo Depaoli” footpath 734 or “Dino Buzzati” cable-aided path 747 which crosses the summit of the Cimerlo with its splendid views. Both routes take 5 hours.
All the footpaths described are clearly indicated through signposts.
